Flight/Launch Criteria
Launches are held on the second Sunday of most months. Launches start
at 1:00pm CT, except for "Beat the Heat" launches. A "Beat the Heat" launch starts at 9:00am and runs until
1:00pm CT. Our launch site is located in Leonard, Oklahoma. Approximately 1 mile east
of the Leonard school. Our waiver is 7,000 FT MSL. Launch fees are:
Motors 1/4A through G
(low power) - FREE!
Motors H and above (high power) - $5.00 for Tulsa Rocketry members and $10.00 for non-members.
Any adult wishing to fly
low power that is not a
member of Tripoli or NAR must check the "18 or Over" box on the
flight card. Your
rocket will not be flown until the flight card is properly filled out. NO EXCEPTIONS!
If you are a member of Tripoli or NAR you must provide proof (i.e.: Membership
Card) and provide your membership number in the proper space on the flight
card. Children accompanied by a parent may launch for free and
do not have to be a TRA or NAR member.
Note:
Our launch site is a working sod farm. We have a good working relationship
with the land owner. We are careful about where we park and drive on
the site and we are careful to pick up after ourselves. Therefore,
use of the field by anyone at times other than an official club
launch is not permitted.
The
following criteria must be met or the launch will be scrubbed:
Weather Conditions forecast for Launch Day
- Wind Less than 20 mph
- Temperature at least 50° F
- Ceiling 1,500 ft
Weather conditions for high fire danger launches:
- All of the above conditions plus the following additional
restrictions
- No sparky motors
- No cluster flights or staged rockets
- No flights at all if wind is over 12 mph
- RSO inspection of all rockets
- Fire extinguishers on-site
Burn bans will cause the launch to be scrubbed. The GO/NOGO call will be made via e-mail on Saturday by 10:00am. It should be posted
on this website soon after the call is made. To get on the mailing list send a request to
.
Otherwise check the homepage before heading for the launch site.
