June 8th Launch is GO!

Current Club News (updated 05/13/2008 )
Welcome to the Tulsa Rocketry website.

Our next club launch is scheduled to be June 8th, 2008.  Hopefully the weather will be as nice as it has been for the last three launches.  Keep checking back for updates.

The May launch was continued the string of great flying days ever, equally as good as the April launch.  Many flights took to the air and we had a very good turnout.  Reports said we had 50 cars at the field at one time.  Our RocketScience 2008 launch went well.  We had 7 of 9 payloads make the flight.  The flight went well and there was only minor damage to the nose cone on landing.  Pictures and results of the experiments are posted. Overall, it was again, a great day of flying.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 7:00pm at Flight Safety.  We'll have a wrap up of RockeScience 2008 and our usual rocket talk and show and tell at the end of the meeting.

One note to all who might come out to a Leonard launch: Even though it might look like a dirt road leaves 161st street and heads north, please DO NOT USE IT.  Instead please drive around on the pavement and enter from the east on the dirt road where the tractor sheds are.  Thanks for your cooperation.  As a reminder of how to get to the new site see the map.  Remember: DO NOT DRIVE ON THE SOD!

The RocketScience Project is gearing up for 2008.  We are now actively looking for schools that would like to participate in the 2008 project.  We currently have six schools that have indicated they want to participate this year.  If your school might be interested in lofting a science payload several thousand feet into the atmosphere, check out the RocketScience page for more details. NEW: some sample electronics have been added to the Examples page. Check it out.

If you are thinking of trying to push the sound barrier on one of your flights, you've got to check out this video.  It shows what can happen to G10 fins at transonic/supersonic speeds.

Keep in mind our launch notification procedure.  The Prefect will send out an email by 10:00 am Saturday to indicate if the launch is a GO/NOGO.  It will be posted on this web site shortly after the notice goes out.  We also have simplified our launch fees.  Low power (1/4 A through G) will be free for anyone.  If you are going to fly High Power (H or above) the fee is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non members.

Do you think you'd like to join our happy group?  Visit our Membership Info page to find out how.  You can see the 2008 Officer's here.

If you like rocketry and/or astronomy and you're a girl or boy age 14 through 20, check out the Venture Crew that we are sponsoring, Crew 2010.

High Power News (H thru O motors only):

Anyone in the club that is Level 1 or higher or planning on getting your Level 1 will need to get a LEUP unless you purchase motors on the day you fly.  The tutorial on this website will help you get one.

Check out the Attached Garage Storage Variance Tutorial.  It has worked for several members so we have now turned it into our latest LEUP related tutorial.  We hope it helps you.
