High Frontier 8 Contest Rules

A flier can only participate in one contest per flight. Check the box on the flight card of the contest you are entering.

James DuBois Warloc Drag Race

This contest is open to any high power flier that has a Warloc rocket. The rules for this year have changed, below are the details. The winner will receive a High Frontier 8 trophy, bragging rights for one year, and their rocket will be featured on next year's High Frontier logo.

  • The rocket must be flown on an Aerotech J570 motor.
  • All rockets must land safely without major damage (it must be immediately re-flyable, similar to a Level 1 cert flight.).
  • First off pad wins. (Photographic evidence will be used to determine the winner.)

Frequent Flier

This contest is open to all fliers. There will be two contests. The first will take place on Saturday and another will take place on Sunday. Each day, the rocket that gets in the most flights that day will win a High Frontier 8 trophy. The rocket can fly on any impulse motor. But it must be the same rocket not just the same name for a rocket.

Closest to the Buffalo

This contest is open to all fliers under the age of 18. There will be two contests. The first will take place on Saturday and another will take place on Sunday. Each day the flier who safely lands their rocket closest to the Buffalo sign will win $25, second place will win $15 and third place will win $10. As an additional bonus prize, this year Hobby Town USA of Tulsa will give away a $50 gift certificate to the contestant whose rocket actually hits the buffalo. Individual fliers cannot win more than one placement per day. In other words, on Saturday one flier cannot win both First and Third, or Second. But they would be eligible for the Sunday contest if they fly on Sunday. No scores from Saturday will carry over to Sunday.
