To All:

Several project-related items were discussed at the Club meeting last night. For those who were not in attendance, here are the updates:

Launch Date - The launch date for the Phoenix Project has been selected and that date is Friday, July 12. This is the second full day of LDRS 21 in Amarillo, Texas. Our goal will be to complete the launch and recovery of the Phoenix before 10:00 AM that Friday morning. By flying early in the day we should be able to (hopefully) avoid the expected windy conditions of West Texas in July. We will need to arrive at the field no later than 7:00 AM Friday morning to begin setup and we will aim for 9:00 AM to 'push the button'.

This means that those who wish to participate in the Phoenix launch will need to travel to LDRS no later than Thursday, July 11. And that leads into the next update.

LDRS Motel - After much on-line research, we are recommending the Holiday Inn Express in Canyon, Texas, as the Project Phoenix base camp for LDRS. This is about 30 miles from the launch site and is located in between Amarillo and the field. The number for the motel is: 806-655-4445. Other motels in Canyon are the Buffalo Inn (806-655-2124) and the Goodnight Inn (806-655-1132). All the motels in the area will fill up quickly, so it is to your advantage to make your reservations NOW.

April Construction Dates - We also re-arranged the Saturday construction meeting dates for April. The dates are now April 6 and April 20. This change was necessary so as not to conflict with the Kloudburst launch in Argonia KS on April 13-14 and the Spring Sooner Boomer launch in Sayre on April 27-28.
