This year we are trying something different for our meeting
programs. We'll still have our regular business meeting and our
period of Show and Tell but our programs will center around the
construction of a rocket that can be used for Level 1 and/or Level 2
certification. If you join in and participate you should have a new high
power rocket by the end of August. Your own project can be a kit or
you can try your hand at scratch building a rocket.
We're not going to get into the LEUP process or debate. That
doesn't mean we won't answer questions about the process, it just means
that we are not going to go over it for this series of programs. If
you have questions about LEUP's just ask any old hand and they will be
glad to help you. Our LEUP Tutorial
is also available online.
What we will be doing is using each program session as a collaboration
of the "old guys" with one leading the discussion. It
won't be a presentation by a single person. This way more ideas and
"lessons learned" can be injected into the discussion by all the
"old guys" at each program. Each of the "old
guys" would bring whatever examples they need and contribute their
particular knowledge on the subject to the overall discussion.
Each discussion will have a "pros and cons" section.
Here we will try to emphasize the "why" and "why not"
of each technique or procedure. We'll try to avoid the "this is
the only way to do it" trap. Hopefully this will allow each
participant to come away from the program with the knowledge needed to
make intelligent choices in future projects.
Many of the meeting programs will have hand's on follow up session
where actual construction will take place and each participant can try the
new technique and get help from any of the "old guys" in
attendance.
This is going to be an exciting series of programs, plan to come and
